Cutting Flag System — Customer Manual (Livewire Pro)

Thanks for choosing Livewire Pro. This guide shows you how to set up, use, and care for your cutting flag system.

Safety First

  • Weather: The controller box is OK in light rain. Protect it from heavy rain, standing water, flooding, snow/ice, and extreme heat or cold. Do not submerge any part of the system.
  • Wind (important): Leaving the flag on in windy conditions will cause the cord to wrap itself. Flag quick-disconnects make removing the flag fast and convenient.
  • Charging: Use a USB-C charger (5 V) rated no more than 3 ampsNever charge the remote with a charger over 3 A. Don’t leave it charging unattended.
  • People & horses: Keep hands, hair, tack, and clothing away from the moving line and pulley. Clear the training area before you start. Adults only.

System Overview

  • Manual Drive: Hold Left/Right to jog the flag.
  • Speed Steps: Six fixed speed levels—slow walk to a quick lope.
  • Record / Play: Capture a pattern and play it back with one button.
  • Surge: Momentary boost for realistic acceleration when needed.
  • Auto-Brake Toggle: Stops the flag quickly.
  • Reverse: Swap Left/Right to match your setup.
  • Wired Fallback: If the remote battery dies, you can keep training by connecting the remote to the controller box’s USB-C port with a USB-C cable and operating while it charges.

Pairing is automatic—no setup needed.

Placement & Range Tips

  • Typical working range is up to 100 ft in open arenas.
  • Keep line of sight between the remote and the box.
  • Don't mount the box behind solid walls

Charging & Care

Remote (USB-C)

  • Use a USB-C charger (5 V, ≤ 3 A)Do not use chargers above 3 A or high-voltage fast-charge bricks.
  • Charge in a dry location. Don’t charge in extreme heat/cold or unattended.
  • Wired fallback: If the remote dies or is low, plug it into the controller box’s USB-C port with a USB-C cableand continue operating while it charges.
  • Charge before each use if stored for an extended period of time.

Controller Box & Line

  • Light rain is OK. Protect from heavy rain, flooding, snow/ice, and extreme temperatures. Dry before storing.
  • Wind note: Leaving the flag on in windy conditions will cause the cord to wrap itself. Flag quick-disconnects make removing the flag fast and easy.
  • Inspect line and clip regularly; replace worn parts

Battery Care Tips for Your Cutting Flag System

  • Remove the battery after use. Even when the system is off, it can slowly drain a connected battery. Leaving a pack connected too long may damage it.

  • Okay to run it until empty. It’s safe to use the battery until the system stops running. Just remove the pack promptly and recharge it soon after.

  • Recharge before storage. If you won’t be using the system for a while, charge the battery to about half (40–60%) before storing.

  • Protect from extremes. Store packs in a cool, dry place — not in direct sun, heat, or freezing conditions.

Following these steps will extend the life of your batteries and keep your system running reliably.

Troubleshooting

Flag hesitates or jerks

• Move closer or face the box; keep line of sight.

• Raise or reposition the box away from big metal posts/walls.

• Charge the remote or use wired fallback (USB-C).

No movement

• Check power to the box.

• Ensure the line isn’t tangled and hasn’t wrapped from wind.
